A cross-border rescue operation in the Innviertel was unfortunately unsuccessful: the missing man in the Inn could only be found dead.
At 7:50 p.m., the Braunau fire brigade and colleagues from the other side of the Inn, from the Passau control center, started the search. It is only known that there would be a person in the inn. Fifteen minutes later, the Mining fire brigade was also alerted.
The border river was searched for more than an hour. The darkness made the mission difficult. And with every minute that passed, the hope that the search would end happily, if there was actually someone in the river, faded – because the water is icy and after a few minutes hypothermia sets in and it becomes increasingly difficult for the person concerned to move. Around 9 p.m., the missing person was actually discovered and the worst fears came true – the missing person could only be found dead.
