Cycling under water: new world record in Vienna

Date:

Since 2017, the world record in 24-hour cycling has been under water. Now ten enthusiastic Viennese divers have not only broken them, they have also pulverized them.

It was a great joy Sunday in the diving hall in Liesing when the world record for 24 hours underwater cycling, which had existed since 2017, fell – eventually it was smashed. A little earlier than expected, the ten athletes of the company sports association ‘cycled’ the 115 kilometer line.

Record improved by eight kilometers
Since 12 noon on Saturday, the enthusiastic divers around apnea specialist Christian Redl have been pedaling on the special bicycles at a depth of five meters. After 24 hours it was even 123.15 kilometers. “We are very proud of the first world record in corporate sports,” said Secretary General Florian Ram.
