A young tourist went to Mallorca in the fall and then disappeared without a track. Researchers already took a fatal accident. Now the remains of the 24-year-old were found in a landfill. A DNA comparison confirmed the suspicion.
As reported, the Argentinian professional student waited after a party evening with friends on the night of October 2 in Palma on the bus. Apparently she wanted to get something out of a waste container and fell into it. Researchers reconstructed that she could no longer come out because of her drunken state.
Shortly thereafter, the container was emptied by a garbage truck that drove to the Son Reus Crombination facility. There is no oxygen in the vehicle, the press presses the waste together. “It is impossible to survive in the garbage truck,” said main investigator Ángel Ruiz in October.
The body of the 24-year-old tourist was not found, the search for the remains was initially not successful. The police suspected that the body was cremated in the waste incineration installation. To clarify the case, the researchers were looking for 60,000 tons of waste in 24-hour for a month. Bot residues that belong to the Argentinian were now found. A DNA comparison with rehearsals from her family confirmed this.
Now the case has been informed without a doubt, the police said. Family members and other people had feared a crime and had taken to the streets with posters and banners for the deceased. The police themselves were quickly convinced of a tragic accident.
