Just one day after a deadly shark attack in Egypt that killed a Tyrolean woman, 68, there was apparently another incident involving a predatory fish. Another woman died.
According to media reports, Egypt’s environment ministry confirmed the death of a second woman on Sunday. She was also attacked by a shark on Saturday, apparently only a few hundred yards from the initial attack. The victim did not survive. Nationality is not yet known.
Several beaches on the Red Sea have since been closed. It is currently prohibited to enter the water. Meanwhile, Egypt’s Environment Ministry said via Facebook that it is investigating the two incidents in detail. The ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the families of both victims.
First shark attack on Friday – Tyrolean (68) dead
As reported on Friday, a 68-year-old Tyrolean woman was attacked by a shark while swimming. She reportedly lost an arm and a leg in the attack. The woman died moments later in a private hospital of poor circulation as a result of the serious injuries and the high blood loss.
