Wilder in sight: – Finest Sniffer Noses looking for death

Date:

Police and NGOs such as WWF and Birdlife will tell the poachers of the country together in the future: in the future, four -legs friends will have to detect illegally killed animals throughout the country. In Burgenland they felt together with the “Krone” to Seadler and Co. Cadavern.

You could think of them for hikers – the four dog processors, with their four -legs companions on Wednesday morning, roam the fields in the Neusiedl district (BGLD.). The “crown” of a local inspection was allowed to convince itself that they are not all. The four dogs used are so-called cadaver detection dogs. Your nose is specially designed for sniffing dead living creatures – even so small. One of the dogs also has extra training in terms of GIF.

East Hotspot for Bird Hunt, West for Wolf and Luchs
The task of the four -legged friends: in two hunting areas they searched for illegally poached animals, accompanied by the animal welfare organizations WWF and Birdlife, but also by experts from the federal and national criminal police station. In the east of Austria it is usually a sea eagle, imperial eagle, red kite or grain, as Johannes Hohenegger from Birdlife tells. Those protected, endangered species are happy to be shot or poisoned. But Wolf and Luchs were also on a lot of shooting list in Tyrol and Carinthia last year.

Neusiedl Pilot Project must be expanded
Now the police and NGOs work together throughout Europe to do the end of natural crime. A great thing, as chief inspector Karl Frauenberger thinks of the Federal Criminal Police Office. The pilot project in Neusiedl must be repeated in the future – also in other parts of the country. According to the criminalist, the Public Prosecution Service must find poisons and carcass. And the hunters who have warned the distance campaign – “We have an eye on you.” The public must also be encouraged to report dead animals.

Schnöffler came across carcasses and autumn
The four dogs that were used in Neismiedl on Wednesday successfully returned from their search use. A total of 20 parts of different animals were demolished. In addition to a few rabbits and deer, which were probably died naturally, parts of a mouse buzzard and a case trap were also included. However, a forensic examination in the laboratory must first show whether the finds are the result of poaching.
