Incredible, brave and equipped with a good dose of acting: this is how you could describe Leopoldine Zöhrer. The fast calculator with a big mouth is well known in police circles as a repeated perpetrator – but in a positive sense.
Hours long phone calls until the handcuffs clicked
Already twice – in November 2023 and July 2024 – she exposed tricksters on the phone. Thanks to their criminalist senses, two people were arrested by the police. The brave lady had previously called the fraudsters who wanted to “bring 60,000 euros to safety”.
Without the use of the police in the meantime she informed her husband’s mobile phone. This changed the house. Zöhrer followed the instructions of the fraud and threw the bag through a crown newspaper, but no money in front of the house. The handcuffs clicked for the couple with an Austrian license plate.
Price given to Volkshilfe
The 66-year-old was honored for her most recent commitment with the special price at the allocation of the 2025 Security Serving Award. But instead of enjoying the good -handed profit – two nights for two people in the Therme Lutzmannsburg – the “Miss Marple” of Rechnitz, as Zöhrer is called, decided thanks to its good nose in the population to donate the Volkshilfe Burgenland. “I want to support people in difficult situations and determine a sign of solidarity,” she says in the course of the check transfer.
