There was little new in the health status of the pope on Thursday. This was “stable,” said the Vatican. Francis was again supported with a non-invasive mechanical fan at night. It is also provided with extra oxygen.
This is partly with an Ademmmasker and partly through canules. At night the pope wears a mask on the mouth and nose to be ventilated. During the day the 88-year-old is provided with oxygen with a snake over his nose.
According to the Vatican, the night of Thursday was quiet, without further incidents. Francis is free of fever, his blood values are stable. The Pontifex had suffered two respiratory crises on Monday. Nevertheless, he devoted himself to a few work tasks on Wednesday and Thursday, such as phone calls.
In the hospital for three weeks
The care for the pope remains great. The head of the Roman Catholic Church is now in the hospital for exactly three weeks. In the Gemelli clinic in Rome he is treated for bilateral pneumonia. He is no longer seen in public since he was admitted.
Incidentally, the Pope explains his resignation or an exemption from the office itself. Then the global Cardinal College is called, the conclave starts two weeks later. A successor is chosen there.
