The water has generally decreased, but many districts are still flooded. According to the minister, 1200 people were evacuated. It cannot be said how many people are missing, because many residents are cut off from communication because there is no electricity to charge mobile phones.
A serious storm had fallen over the city on Friday with around 330,000 inhabitants in the south of the province of Buenos Aires on the Atlantic coast. According to the weather service, 210 millimeters of precipitation per square meter was measured within 24 hours in Bahía Blanca – this is about a third of the average rainfall per year.

Bahía Blanca was then almost completely under water. Roads and houses were flooded, hospitals were evacuated and dozens of families were looking for protection in emergency shelter. Public transport was stopped and the airport was closed.
The government sent police officers and soldiers to help the rescue work in the city 600 kilometers south of Buenos Aires and approved AIDS of 10 billion peso (around 8.6 million euros for the official exchange rate) to remedy the damage.
