The German truck was only a few centimeters too far to the left on Linz Landstrasse. A short business, a loud crunch, then nothing worked – the truck was open on the curb and blocked the tram traffic to the north. Fortunately, the fire brigade, the police and Linz AG could recover it in less than 30 minutes.
Every Linzer knows the slope at the Bürgerstrasse -stop. Because the stop is in the middle of the street, this increased approximately 20 centimeters to make barrier -free access and outside possible. This low height difference was doomed on Wednesday.
Cause for making unclear
It is unclear whether the Put -Beeing -Loving Steering wheel had simply overlooked the edge or why it slid on the tracks with the left side. What is certain is that the truck blocked the tram tracks and could not move on their own.
Wooden blocks under tires
“Around 9:20 am there was the passenger’s first announcement that there is a delay because of an obstacle on the tracks,” said Linz-AG spokeswoman Susanne Gillhofer. But help was quickly on the spot: two vehicles from the Linz Professional Fire Brigade and a few patrol cars and the Linz AG coordinator stretched the traffic and placed wooden blocks under the floating tires.
After about 20 minutes off again
So the heavy vehicle, whose flanks were decorated by a Bavarian food wholesaler, was finally able to leave the traces. “After about 20 minutes, the first tram was able to pass the place of the accident. Unfortunately, because of the backlog, it still takes some time for the timetable to settle again, ”says Gillhofer.
