A actually quiet sleep ended up for a man in Memphis (US) with a painful moment of terror: his own dog has accidentally activated a shot – and hit him.
While the police in Memphis announced in the state of Tennessee on Wednesday, the man slept in bed when his pit bull called Oreo jumped onto the bed and lay with his leg in the withdrawal of a firearm.
The dog was “stuck with his leg in trigger protection” and led to the shot, said it in the police report.
Dog is considered “very playful”
The dog owner suffered a trip on the thigh in the incident, which was treated in the hospital. The local television broadcaster Fox 13 Memphis quoted the man’s girlfriend with the words that the Oreo is “very playful” for a year old Oreo and likes to jump around.
Shots by animals rare, but occur
The incident had now made her clear to her and her partner who should always be secured that invited firearms. Shots of animals on humans are even rare in the US despite the omnipresent firearms.
Recently a 30-year-old two years ago died in Kansas after a German shepherd had stepped on a shotgun and caused a shot.
