Two women stabbed – murder case in Vienna: “I wasn’t myself!”

For years she supported Caritas and Diakonie Austria to protect Somali women from the fate that now befell her and her best friend: deadly violence by men.

Her own 29-year-old ex-husband caused a bloodbath in September 2021: During a visit, he rummaged through her cell phone – he was convinced she had a “new one”. And then he found a message from an old friend. That same night, he made the decision to kill his ex-wife, the alleged rival and best friend — she always got in the way of a happy marriage, he says.

After his ex-wife took their daughter (4) to kindergarten, the defendant confronted her with the found messages.

An argument arose: “It clicked and I was no longer myself.” He goes into the kitchen, takes a rolling pin and hits the woman on the head several times until she is unconscious. He covers her and stabs her under the covers with a knife. He patiently waits for his ex-wife’s girlfriend to come to the scheduled lunch. And attacks her too: hit her nine times with the rolling pin. As if in a frenzy, he stabbed the woman more than 40 times.

“It was a massacre!”, describes the forensic psychiatrist in the Vienna court. But in the end it was not completed. He lured the potential third victim – the alleged rival – with a message. But since he forgot the knife when he met him on the sidewalk, he was unarmed. The attempt to punch him failed and his victim was able to flee. Moments later, he is arrested.
