Last Friday, a 70-year-old in parish churches in the Mühlkreis (Upper Austria) was found in his bed by the mayor. The senior body had the most difficult burns. An autopsy now clarified the tragic death.
Exactly a week ago, Hermann Gierlinger, mayor of Pfarrkirchen spread in the Mühlkreis, every Friday and Sunday “Essen on Wheels” in his community. Everything normally went until he wanted to take lunch to 70-year-old Josef M. in the small village of Altenhof. From the outside everything worked normally here, but inside – the door was open as always – cold smoke immediately came to him.
Single and that care need
“I didn’t realize it in the beginning,” said the local chef in an interview with the “Krone”. The single and needy senior was found with the heaviest burns in his bed by the mayor: “It was not a beautiful sight, I hardly recognized him anymore.” An autopsy was ordered by Linz’s public prosecutor.
No indication of external negligence
“There is no proof of external debt,” says spokeswoman Ulrike Breitederer. Nevertheless, the last moments of Josef M. were perhaps very dramatic. After a medical emergency – presumably a heart attack – the man could not act and burn in his bed. A cigarette had activated the fire.
