During a tour of a primary school class in a country house on Monday, a small piece of mortar fell from the ceiling of the meeting room of the state parliament in Upper Austria. The piece, about eight centimeters long and three centimeters in diameter, struck a schoolgirl (10) from Weißkirchen on the right forearm, she sustained a small bleeding wound that was treated with a plaster on site.
From Monday 11 July, the state parliament meeting room will be closed for renovations during the summer. During the preparations for this construction site (scaffolding), the piece of mortar may have come loose from an exhaust air shaft, which is currently being checked in detail. The stucco on the ceiling is also examined during the construction site.
In the coming days until the construction site-related closure, there will be no more guided tours of the state parliament meeting room for safety reasons.
