Almost exactly 30 years after a failed explosive attack on the prison construction in the German capital Berlin, the trial against two alleged members of the left -wing extremist group “The Committee” began. For the procedure for the Berlin Chamber Court, the accused Peter K. (65) and Thomas W. (62) returned to Germany from their exile in Venezuela. The German federal public prosecutor had charged charges in December 2024.

The alleged left -wing extremists are “sufficiently suspicious to coordinate to achieve an explosive explosion,” was said at the time by the highest indictment in Germany. Accusation far from status
From the point of view of the defense, the fact that there is still a trial goes back to a “trick” by the federal public prosecutor after almost 30 years. Complaints, on the other hand, remained without success at the Federal Court of Justice and the Federal Constitutional Court, said lawyer Lukas Theune.
The presiding judge Gregor Herb has previously planned for the trial for the 2nd criminal senate of the Chamber Court. That is why a judgment is expected on April 8.
