Thousands of participants in the massive protests against the Serbian government accuse the police to have acted against the demonstrators in the capital Belgrade on Saturday with a healthy gun in the army. By Monday, more than 3,000 “confirming” statements were collected by participants. You are now calling for an international investigation into the allegations.
More than half a million people have signed a petition within less than 24 hours, which requires an international investigation into the incident. In particular, the UN Commissioner for Human Rights, the Council of Europe and the Organization for Safety and Cooperation in Europe should work (OSD). Prime Minister Milos Vucevic introduces an international study differently. He suggested bringing the American federal police FBI and the Russian secret service FSB to the country, “to conduct the investigation”.
Participants of the demonstration had stated that they had observed a strong heat wave, a roar and motorcycle sounds on Saturday at 7:11 pm and 7.12 pm. They were then destroyed by a pressure wave. “We heard a loud sound, such as a rocket or a fast car, and suddenly a pressure wave threw us around. People fell on us to start screaming and calling,” a participant told the N1 TV station on Sunday. Due to the panic, the organizers broke down the protest abruptly. Recordings of the masses that suddenly run away, also spread on social media such as running fire (see posts below).
According to Serbian media reports, dozens of people in the Belgrade Hospital were accepted because of complaints that may be due to the use of the cannon. However, the hospital itself denied the information.
Ex-policeman: “Cam can lead to the bursting of veins”
The former police commissioner Bozo Prelevic stated that it could be a device called Genesis made in the US. This was introduced in Serbia in 2022. “This type of cannon can cause hearing damage, has a pacemaker, can lead to the bursting of veins and cause permanent damage,” Prelevic told Nova TV.
Investigate those who spread solid accusations of guns
The allegations were strongly rejected by the Serbian government. “There was no sound gun in the streets of Belgrade, nor the police nor another state body used them,” Vucevic emphasized. President Aleksandar Vucic, however, asked the Ministry of Justice to “explore the truth about the use of the sound gun”. Moreover, these must be prosecuted “who have become public with such deceptions and the citizens have been worried”.
