By mosquitoes “abnormally large spiders”
But not only the insects are a problem – because the rich feed offer also means “abnormally large spiders”. “We call on that the emergency situation will be proclaimed and the region and all participating institutional authorities (including the Ministry of Environment) are taking urgent measures to immediately put an end to the mosquito plague in the Orbetello lagoon,” says the petition.
The phenomenon is by no means new: there was already a similar invasion in 2022. Although the mosquito mosquitoes do not stab and do not pose a danger for people, they can cause allergic reactions such as conjunctivitis and asthma.
On Thursday, the community announced that 300,000 euros would be made to put an end to the mosquito pest.
