Her dream holiday almost developed into a nightmare for two Austrians: the tourists were on the road with the cruise ship Aidabella and switched to an excursion boat in Colombia. When this capsized during stormy conditions, the two and dozens of other holidaymakers could be saved from the coast guard.
A total of 38 holidaymakers and two crew members of the Aidabella traveled with the excursion boat. The holidaymakers are two Austrians and 36 Germans, said the head of the Coast Guard, Felipe Portilla, in the Caracol radio station.
According to a spokeswoman for the Cartagena city council, everyone is doing well. The tourists came to Cartagena with the cruise ship Aidabella.
Boot over
The holidaymakers were on the way back from the Barú peninsula to Cartagena with the excursion boat. According to the coast guard, the reason for the accident was the strong wind and the high waves. It was only at the start of the month that an excursion boat had fallen in the region with around 40 tourists. Cartagena is considered the pearl of the Caribbean and is a popular holiday destination with its historic city wall and the well -proven old city.
