Once swimming with dolphins – many fans of the playful marine mammals dream of this. The American Cierra Stockard fulfilled this long -held wish during her vacation in Jamaica. But when playing with an animal there was a tragic accident. The woman was so seriously injured that she had to be operated on.
The incident took place in the Dolpin Grove – holiday makers can swim with dolphins during this tourist attraction. The animals pull the guests through the water, for example a magical experience for Stockard: “It is as if you go into a cheerleader position, like an airplane on the top of the pyramid,” she describes the adventure. “They just push you for them, it feels like you are gliding through the water.”
Dolphin swung through the air
But then the game became more serious. A dolphin hurled the tourist in the air, she fell unhappy on the hard dorsal fin of the dolphin. “It felt like a car accident,” she told WKRN to the broadcaster. “I was in so much pain, the tears ran over my face.”
Insurance does not pay at home for patient transport
Because the accident is expensive for the Stockard: a patient transport at home costs around $ 45,000 – these costs are not covered by the insurance company. The message with which the family had contacted could not help either. In the meantime, almost $ 22,000 have already been collected from the donation for the mother of two children.
Stockard was admitted to the hospital. It was operated and received two blood transfusions. She suffered a “trauma because of bone violence” that the bruise of “three apples” had her sister, who prepared a donation page for the injured on the Gofundme.com platform.
