Three people were spilled this morning during an avalanche accident in the Ötztal Alps. There is a major rescue operation going on. One person has now recovered and flown to the hospital.
The accident took place around 10.30 am in the Gurgler Group in the area of the Schalfkogel (3537 m) opposite the (closed) high gamehouse.
According to the first information, the snow masses were two tourers and they tore with them. It turned out later, a third was also buried. One of the three alpinists was only shaken. They apparently all came to lie in the area of a glacier column. There are also reports that they fell into the column. “A ski track leads to the column,” confirmed a savior of the “Kroon”. Nevertheless, one of the apparently affected has succeeded in raising the alarm.

According to the Tyrol Control Center, a total group with five alpinists in the accident area was – but it is not known whether they belong together.
Three helicopters on site
There is a rescue operation underway: the mountain venues of Obergurgl and Sölden, search dogs of Mountain Rescue, two rescue helicopters and the Libelle Tyrol Police Helicopter are being used.
Somewhat injured
In the meantime there is good news: a buried person was restored and flew to the hospital with minor injuries. The other two are still looking for the area of the column.
On Monday there was an avalanche danger level 2 in the Ötztal Alps – moderate avalanche danger.
