Small cause, devastating effect: the most important fire of a caravancentrum in St. Marein near Graz on Thursday evening was activated by the defective battery of a parked customer vehicle, as is now known. No fewer than 80 caravans became a robbery of the flames.
The Inferno left apocalyptic traces, says Anton Schildberger, the brother of the senior manager. “Much is completely burned, metal skeletons and melted engine blocks are over.” The damage cannot yet be quantified, but moves in the millions.
Fire Brigade Fundraising campaign
In addition to material losses, human suffering is also considerable. The Petersdorf II volunteer Fire Brigade launched a fundraising for the affected entrepreneurial family the day after the catastrophe. On Facebook, the family is still called on “after 30 work -intensive years for nothing”.
More than 200 firefighters of 20 fire brigade from the area were on site to prevent worse. Three comrades had to be treated medically during dangerous use – not because of flue gas poisoning, but because of the high physical stress, says Petersdorf commander Gottfried Hofer. You have now recovered from the hardships.
Thanks to the helper despite heavy shock
The heavily shocked family is important to thank the helpers, says Schildberger, who has been trying to support Sister, brother -in -law, cousin and other family members for days.
According to the police, the fire went out of a motorhome in a workshop, which was only recently taken to the area by a customer. A battery defect caused a deadly chain reaction, the flames quickly reached the house, the workplace and the hall. The operation was also deliberately stored because of various gas bottles on the site that had to be brought from the danger area. Shortly after the first fire brigades arrived, there was a flue gas inflammation with enormous heat development.
Junior boss and young family homeless
The opposite residential building of senior managers Heidi and Reinhard Stöckkl can be saved by the large -scale operation. Son Stefan and his family have temporarily found shelter there. With partner Marie and The One -Year -oold Daughter Milena, he had to give up his burnt apartment. “There is nothing left,” says Schildberger.
Wave of helpfulness
A young family that is rented in the basement has quickly received an apartment from the municipality of Kirchbach. In general, the willingness to help is enormous: cooking neighbors, transfer children’s clothing. The Grabenmühle Gasthaus of Maria Lankowitz sent Essen for two days without the Caravan Center. And there are also numerous auxiliary offers on the part of the entire Austria, says Schildberger. The company with its 15 employees is “not a company, but a real family” and a popular employer, he explains the great sympathy.
Operation must be continued
The issue of the future of the company has not yet been clarified in the few days since the shock. “It is a life’s work that started with a garage in 1996 – everything is financed. From one day to the next day everything was brought into ruins by no fault.” The aim of the Stöckkls is to keep working and to keep all employees. There are already initial considerations: some vehicles that are not registered by fire can still be sold, you will probably look for a suitable workshop nearby. For the time being, however, the focus is still on digesting the huge shock of last week.
