In the case of mass violations of traffic rules in an EU country, drivers will soon be able to threaten a driving ban in the European Union-lawless of the Member State in which you have taken over your driver’s license.
According to applicable legislation, EU countries that have not issued the driving license can only enforce driving bans on their own territory.
Under certain conditions, the new regulation now requires the exhibition status to take over a ban on driving and to enforce them over the EU.
Provisional agreement
Representatives of the EU parliament and the Member States have concluded the provisional agreement that must ensure that serious traffic inactors will be held responsible in all Member States in the future, where they have acquired the driver’s license.
The new regulation must apply in particular in the case of serious violations such as drunkenness behind the wheel, considerable speed violations or accidents with death. The condition is that the Member State of the violation imposes a break for at least three months and all professions are exhausted.
Formal confirmation required
The agreement must still be formally confirmed by the European Parliament and the Member States in the Council.
