A Russian reconnaissance aircraft has approached the German air room over the Baltic Sea. The German Air Force caught the plane and accompanied it until NATO air space left. The crew of the Russian military aircraft had not responded to radio statements.
The Russian plane flew on Thursday east of the German Baltic island in NATO air space, as the German Air Force confirmed. The ILIUSCHIN IL-20M machine was on the road without a flight schedule and transpond signal and did not respond to radio statements. Then the German Eurofighter got up.
They accompanied the Russian plane east of Rügen a few kilometers. The plane eventually turned around and flew back to the Kaliningrad area, which belongs to Russia.
Such incidents are not unusual: according to the German Air Force, Russian military aircraft occasionally approach German airspace – and therefore also those of NATO. Jets or NATO regularly catch military planes from Russia over the Baltic Sea.
