Nasal vaccination against Covid has successfully tested

Date:

An international research team has successfully tested a new, Nasal Covid 19 vaccination. The vaccine, on which among other things

Being involved could offer a new way to fight the virus more effectively.

The vaccination is administered directly through the nasal mucosa. This serves as a drender virus for people, Newcastle Disease virus (NDV), which expression the Spike protein from SARS-COV-2. This is intended to activate an intended immune response in the upper respiratory tract, whereby the virus penetrates the body.

Nasal administration more effective
Tests on mice and golden hamsters yielded positive results: vaccinated animals remained protected against infection and nasal administration turned out to be more effective than the injected variant. Moreover, the vaccine could serve as a booster and generate broad immunity, also against omicron variants.

The scientists see great potential in this technology. A nose vaccine could not only improve protection against infections, but also make unnecessary adjustment to constant new virus variants.

It is still unclear when the vaccine was approved for people. However, the earlier research results give rise to hope.
