“I am not on the bike much anymore. If they are successful, it is uncomfortable,” Bernhard reveals. The 44-year-old was one of the fastest mountain bikers in Austria. Until a downhill ended in 2018. “After that I was good in the beginning, then I got such a strong osteoarthritis that I could no longer go.” Only a titanium prosthesis helped in the ankle, “but I can only bend my foot 15 degrees.”
