After a three -year break, Lemowork Ketema runs again for the first time in the Vienna City Marathon over 42.195 kilometers. The former ÖLV Recordler with Andreas Vojta will duel the title as the best Austrian. However, the two want to support each other in the race.
When Lemowork Ketema printed the Austrian marathon record in 2019 at 2:10:44 PM, his first run under 2:10 just seemed a matter of time. But it turned out to be different. Born in Ethiopians, the indigenous struggle had to be injured. In 2022 he was able to run a marathon in Vienna, after which the Achterdij no longer played a role. Pain and diagnoses asked him before the continuation of his career. “I have already considered whether it is still useful,” admits the 38-year-old. “But it was too difficult for me to give up.”
