The Kanlaon Vulkan broke out in the Philippines and spit a column with approximately 4000 meters high axle in the air. The eruption started early on Tuesday morning (local time).
An ash rain went over different villages. Schools were temporarily closed and pilots were warned to prevent airspace in the region.
The alarm level for the Kanlaon is initially at level 3 on a scale of 5.
Photos of the outbreak:
Already at the end of last year an outbreak of the volcano had led thousands of people to escape. Since then, many have lived in evacuation centers.
The Philippines are an island state and lie on the Pacific Fire Ring, a volcanic beam that frames the Pacific from three sides. Earthquakes and outbursts often occur in the region: it is the most geologically active zone on earth.
