Hundreds of tons of old clothing are served to caritas every year, in the lower Austria alone there are 700 tons of old clothes, furniture, household items and electrical appliances. But many textiles are dirty, damaged, “no longer portable” and must be resolved.
At present, about half of the available clothing that is available is no longer suitable for sale and the trend is rising. The professional removal is often associated with high costs.
Fast fashion -Flowed market
“In recent years we have noticed a huge increase in goods that can no longer be sold, especially for old clothing. More and more textile Bidsware with poor quality floods and eventually ends with us,” says Monika Steiner, who leads the Carla Krems for 14 years.
“Not -portable clothing must be thrown away”
A campaign was therefore launched to raise awareness among donors. “If your donation is flawless, it will be joy and that for two!” must do educational work. “Because clothing that is no longer portable must be thrown away and not to be served to one of the Carlas,” asks Stefan Zangl, head of the Carla Vitis in the Waldviertel, too. Well -spent donations are of course still urgently needed and gladly accepted.
