If you are planning a holiday in Italy, you should definitely check the car tires in advance. Because new regulations in traffic in our favorite holiday country apply from 15 April – and there are high penalties.
From mid -April it will be forbidden in Italy to travel with winter tires in the summer. This should increase road safety. If you are still caught mounted winter tires, there is a risk of a juicy punishment between 422 and 1862 euros, as the online portal Altarimini reports.
In extreme cases, approval of the vehicle can even be withdrawn. There is still a respite period by May 15 – until then you will only be warned and you do not have to go to the wallet.
Summer tire assembly in Italy expensive
It can be expensive if you have only mounted the summer tires in Italy. According to Altarimini, the costs for this are estimated at around 1000 euros – because you also have to pay for wear and the new tires. In addition to the ban on winter tires, the following applies: everyone who is caught with worn tires on the street must also expect fine payments of a maximum of 344 euros.
On the other hand, there is nothing to fear for car manufacturers with so-called M+S-Ganz year olds. These are also allowed in the summer – as long as they are not too worn out.
In Austria, winter tires are allowed in the summer
In Austria, the winter tire obligation applies from November 1 to April 15 – but only in winter road conditions. In the summer, winter tires can also be driven in Austria.
