Arrest in Vienna – driver ran away from police at 200 km/h

Date:

A man without a driver’s license chased the police from St. Pölten to Vienna on Thursday. The 29-year-old was temporarily arrested in Vienna.

The man, who does not have a driver’s license, sped away from a police check on the Westautobahn (A1) in Lower Austria, driving at a speed of about 200 km/h. After a chase with the police, the 29-year-old was arrested in Vienna.

Wanted to escape on foot
A police patrol wanted to stop the car with Viennese license plate on the A1 near the St. Pölten-Süd exit because, according to information, there were doubts about the road and operational safety of the vehicle. However, the driver ignored the blue lights and a sign with the words “Police – Please Follow” and continued to press the accelerator. Another attempt by police to arrest him at the Steinhäusl rest area in Altlengbach in the St. Pölten district failed.

In Vienna the driver ignored two red lights and damaged two vehicles. When police blocked the driver’s path, he pushed back, hit the patrol car and tried to escape on foot. The officers temporarily arrested the man, who has no permanent residence in Austria.
