Because their mother buildings stood in the way of the necessary repair measures, a seven-member beaver family must be removed from a reservoir in Jennernorf. Animal Welfare Austria, however, successfully appealed against a complaint against the decision.

Talking to the city could even find a more animal -friendly solution for the rodents. Together with the Ecological Hunting Association of Austria, the four pots have successfully moved to suitable habitats to another state in the past three weeks.

“Beaver makes a hugely important contribution to the renature of our ecosystem. We do not hunt Ökojäger on metavers, but evaluate them and support their move,” says Ökojäger chairman Franz Puchegger. In their new house, the beavers must contribute to the renewal of a river track.
