What a happy ending! After four months, a dog that had escaped from a family near Trieben in Upper Austria was found. The male had previously fallen into a silo.
Rain, hail, snow, hunger, thirst – what the poor four-legged friend must have experienced in those four months can only be guessed. Time and again there were sightings, desperate searches were also made through the “Krone” animal corner and Facebook, but he has not been found since March 9.
The family from Upper Austria bought the two-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog in Carinthia and actually went home with him alone. During the first “walking break” in Trieben, the dog escaped, “we blame ourselves for that”, says the owner.
Hans Nagel, head of the animal shelter in Trieben, was also involved in the search. He was contacted when a farmer saw the dog. “Apparently he had fallen into a silo in a panic during a thunderstorm,” says Nagel. “Bobby” can be rescued with the help of a tranquilizer gun, a ladder and a vet.
Conflicts are forgotten
The happy ending was initially followed by ugly scenes that escalated on social media. Nagel felt he should keep the animal, had “Bobby” veterinary, nursed him back, while the owners immediately wanted their dog back. The “Krone” also mediated. Then everything went quickly, Tuesday evening the dog was taken by his family. “And the whole thing before that is no longer important,” says Frauerl Evelyn G. “We’re just over the moon.”
