No tightening – critics require obstacles for new microhotels

Date:

The new legislative package for building and living in Salzburg does not ensure a tightening for the approval of microhotels. There is now criticism from the opposition.

Microhotels are considered as living room shells. Where tenants could withdraw, the path to a small hotel with a maximum of 30 beds is currently simple, because according to the trade regulations there is no obligation to grant this upper limit. Settings such as a reception are not necessary. Full digital care is sufficient, and this saves costs. A business model that more and more entrepreneurs are discovering themselves.

There has been a lot of criticism for years
Criticism of wild growth has been bouncing from the state government for years. There are enough examples of new machines that will start from Linzergasse to Salzburg-Lehen to Augustinergasse. Protection is only strict in the old city zones, where no living space can be saved.

The Greens now complain that in the new legislative package that regulates the construction in Salzburg, no tightening is intended for the approval of microhotels. “We demand that, with regard to the rooms of Aparthotel for providing hotel-typical services,” said Simon Heilig-Hofbauer. This means, for example, a breakfast room, a reception or staff.
