170 passengers stranded after a malfunction in YBBS press bug (Lower Austria)-according to emergency services there is no injuries, the further journey is uncertain. The ship was secure …
Involuntary stopover on the water: a beautiful Danube cruise from Bratislava to Passau ended on Saturday when the ship remained with sudden engine damage shortly after the YBBS-Persbug-Slot.
“Immediately after the end it was over – it was quiet like a mouse,” reports a passenger from Styria. The ship could no longer maneuver and drove slowly against the couch. The captain finally had to cancel the journey. On board: about 170 passengers and the crew.
Do not panic on the cruise ship
Despite the malfunction, it remained calm on the deck. “You tried to keep your nerves – there was no panic,” the holiday maker also describes. No water had penetrated into the ship, but for security reasons it was decided to attribute the ship. Technicians must now clarify whether the lower deck is damaged.
Hans-Peter Hasenbichler, Managing Director of Via Donau, confirms the incident: “The passenger ship has sustained motor damage, but luckily there are no injuries.”
In the meantime, it was unclear whether and when the journey could be continued. A repair or a replacement ship was in the room. Eventually they decided to continue. In any case, there is an unforgettable experience for the guests – albeit differently than planned.
