Two tourers (32 and 34) were admitted and taken on Easter Sunday in the back Ötztal. While the man got out of light, the 34-year-old winter athlete was seriously injured. An extensive rescue operation was started.
The two locals wanted to climb up on Sunday morning with the touring skis of Obergurggline via the Rotmoostalferner to the Lieben Tip (3399 meters). Around 11.15 am they were almost 100 meters altitude under the top and, according to the police, were on the road with the target forces because of the area immersed by the rock when a snowboard avalanche loose them.
Tear about 100 meters above rock
Both winter sports enthusiasts were admitted by the snow mass and about 100 meters over the partially rocky terrain, but luckily only shaken superficially. While the 32-year-old Austrian was only somewhat injured by the right leg, his 34-year-old companion had seriously injured the whole body.
Brought to the helicopter with akja
The 32-year-old did an emergency call and provided first aid to the woman. The Mountain Rescue was warned in Obergurgl. Because of the weather it had to walk a part of the climb to the scene of the accident. By Akja they then brought the seriously injured at an altitude of approximately 2500 meters, where it was handed over to the emergency helicopter. This flew to the clinic in Innsbruck.
The somewhat wounded companion of the woman was initially able to descend independently, but as a result he was flown by the police helicopter.
