Signal Scandal-Hegseeth also placed an attack plan in the family chat

Date:

The signal scandal in the US is richer with one chapter. The focus again: Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth. The former moderator would also have posted attack plans in a chat with family members.

According to a newspaper report, the US Minister of Defense Hegseeth shared details about the attack on the radical-Islamic Houthi militia in March in another chat group of the Messenger Service.

His wife, brother and his personal lawyer also recorded this, reported the New York Times on Sunday (local time). Hegseeth would have shared the same information about the attack that was made public last month by “the Atlantic Ocean”.

Moreover, the news in the chat group would have had information about the schedule of the air strikes, the American newspaper “The Times” written and referred to four sources that are familiar with the news group. According to Wall Street Journal, Hegseeth’s wife Jennifer, a former Fox News producer, also participated in sensitive meetings with foreign soldiers.

Trump Government under pressure
The “Atlantic” editor Jeffrey Goldberg reported in March that in addition to some of the highest ranking of the US government, he had accidentally accepted the attack in a chat group. Since then, President Donald Trump’s government has been under pressure to explain how this could happen. An internal investigation was started, which led to the suspension of three Ministry of Defense.

On Sunday, Dan Caldwell, once one of the highest advisers of the American Minister of Defense Hegseeth, responded for the first time. “We are incredibly disappointed about the way our service ended in the Ministry of Defense,” wrote Caldwell on X.

He added: “We were still not told, so it was determined exactly to us whether there was still an active investigation or if there was really an investigation of the ‘leaks’.”

Pentagon and the White House defend themselves
According to spokesperson for Pentagon Sean Parnell, the media “enthusiastically used the complaints of irritated former employees as the only source for their article”. “The Trump-hate media are still obsessed with destroying anyone who is committed to President Trump’s agenda … We have already achieved so much for the American soldiers and will never admit,” he wrote to X.

The Witte House spokeswoman, Anna Kelly, said: “Recently released ‘Leaker’ continues to distort the truth to calm her battered ego and undermine the president’s agenda.”

Democrat Schumer demands a resignation of Hegseeth
In the meantime, Democrat Chuck Schumer called for the resignation of Hegseeth. “We always learn how Pete Hegseeth endangers life,” wrote the minority leader in the Senate on X. “But Trump is still too weak to fire him. Pete Hegseeth has to be released.”
