Cars that park in meadows and fields, buses that can hardly pass through: chaotic scenes took place on Tuesday morning at the train station in Werndorf. The reason is a regional route slot. How will this only be like when the major expansion starts, a Neos Council asks.
It is not news that the Park and Ripper systems along the S-Bahn line 5 (from Graz to Spielfeld-Straß) are often on its capacity limits. The scenes on Tuesday morning in Werndorf had a new dimension: the parking spaces were far from sufficient, the cars parked in surrounding streets, steering sheets used fields and meadows as storage space. Some commuters had to bring their car frustrated again and know to friends, reports the new Wildon Neos Community Council Andreas Friesgegg-Fahrngruber.
The reason is a one -week end from the Werndorf track line to the playing field due to maintenance work. Many commuters do not want to use the rail replacement traffic offered, but drive the car to Werndorf. There were also extensive traffic jams on the Pyhrnautobahn.
Collective taxis as a solution?
“What happens only when (in a few years, comment) the expansion of two songs he starts with Southern Railway?” Asks Friessnegg-Fahrngruber. He calls “urgent creative and regional solutions”, in particular he suggests collective taxis for surrounding communities. “The goal is to significantly reduce traffic to Werndorf.”
