What was planned like a relaxed trip to the Amstetten -Cinema ended in a completely curled evening for an upper Austrian family. However, it was not the film “Minecraft”, but a questionable tap -trend from the US, which may have found its way to lower Austria.
What’s behind it? In a scene in the film where a baby zombie rides on a chicken, young people usually jump up and throw around with popcorn and drinks. In American cinemas, even real chickens were smuggled into the corridors. In Amstetten, the youth group, which may have traveled from the Melker district, had not considered the trend so strictly. It is said that the idea has almost continuously disturbed massively, thrown objects and demolished the facility. “Our evening was completely ruined,” says the family man, who could not report the incident on the site: “There was no more staff available.”
Disturbing actions are increasingly becoming a problem
According to Mario Hueber, civil servant in the specialized group of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce and operator of the Megaplex Cinemas, it is so far the only known incident during a Minecraft film in LoWower Austria. Disruptions and vandalism in general are a major problem for cinemas.
“More and more usually young people believe that they are particularly funny and have to disturb demonstrations. In Germany and especially the US this is currently extreme,” said Hueber. Employees are trained to observe striking groups, but the lack of staff that complicy is difficult. Vandalism -damage would often only be noticed afterwards. “The dark halls are difficult to control. We can only see that we have enough reserves to repair the damage,” said Hueber.
In addition to the dubious trends, which were already in the same form, a biggest problem is disappointed visitors. “We can only repay the money for you, after all you can’t help it. But whether you are coming back is more than doubtful,” Hueber is worried.
