2 weapons depots destroyed – Kiev launches major offensive in conquered territories

Date:

According to the Ukrainian armed forces, they have successfully attacked several targets in areas controlled by Russian troops. On Friday night, a Russian weapons depot was destroyed near Shakhtarsk in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. Another arsenal was later said to have exploded in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson near Nowa Kakhovka. Dozens of Russians are said to have died.

The authorities deployed by Russia, on the other hand, spoke of a failed Ukrainian attack on the hydroelectric power station on the Dnipro River. The information provided by both parties could not be independently verified. Recently, reports of allegedly successful Ukrainian attacks on targets, some far behind the front lines, have increased. This is attributed to the use of rocket launchers and howitzers supplied from the West.

Russian troops regroup in east
Meanwhile, experts expect a regrouping of Russian troops after the extensive conquest of the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. Russian forces are likely to regroup before launching new strikes in the Donetsk region, Britain’s Defense Ministry tweeted Friday. Russia is likely to concentrate its troops on the city of Seversk and try to advance towards Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.

In any case, according to its ambassador to Britain, Russia is sticking to its goal of conquering the entire Donbass. Moreover, a withdrawal of Russian troops from southern Ukraine is unlikely, Ambassador Andrei Kelin told Reuters news agency in London. The reason, Kelin states, is that after a Russian withdrawal, provocations and shootings would take place in the affected areas. Ukraine will sooner or later have to decide whether to agree to a peace deal with Russia or continue fighting to the point of collapse, the ambassador said.

Snake Island Recapture Before Zelenskyj Warning For Moscow
Both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have already pledged their countries to take a strong stance. Zelenskyy said in his late night speech that raising the Ukrainian flag on Snake Island in the Black Sea was a sign that his country was not broken. The two-month operation to retake Snake Island is a warning to all Russian forces.

Putin promises negotiations
“Everyone should know that we generally haven’t really started yet,” Putin said in a belligerent address to senior lawmakers on Thursday. However, for the first time in weeks, he also raised the possibility of negotiations. “But those who oppose them should know that the longer it takes, the harder it will be for them to negotiate with us,” Putin said. The governments in Moscow and Kiev recently announced that the negotiations had broken down.
