A journey in the Alps would almost have finished fatally for a 27-year-old Austrian! When climbing on a route in the idyllic Sarcatale, near Dro in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Südtirol, the young woman was hit on the head on Thursday afternoon.
The passionate climber drove with a climbing partner when the accident took place. Happiness in accident: a nearby rope team witnessed the accident and responded with the lightning speed – they immediately warned the mountain rescue.
Flown to the hospital immediately
A rescue helicopter was asked by the station in Riva del Garda and was able to reach the wounded athlete quickly. Despite the serious injury, the 27-year-old was still aware of when the emergency team arrived. According to a first assessment by the helicopter doctor, she was immediately flown to the Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento.
Until now, Alpine Rescue is silent about their exact origin in Austria. Their condition and further recovery are now medical care.
