Twelve fire brigades with more than 200 rescuers had to go to the fire last night at a luxury hotel in Warth am Arlberg. The facade caught fire and the flames quickly spread to other parts of Hotel Jägeralpe. It is unclear at this time what led to the accident.
The fire at Hotel Jägeralpe broke out around 12.10 pm. When the fire alarm system sounded the alarm, the hotel owners noticed a fire on the facade in the vicinity of the terrace and immediately started fighting the flames with hand fire extinguishers and evacuated the hotel guests and staff. According to the police, the 32 German guests and 25 hotel employees had already been taken to safety when the fire brigade arrived. Three people were slightly injured.
Despite the deployment of twelve fire brigades from the area, who had arrived with a total of about 200 firefighters, the fire spread over the entire east facade. From there, the flames also spread to the restaurant area and guest rooms on the east side, as well as the roof structure.
The extinguishing work continued into the early hours. It is currently unclear what caused the devastating fire. The fire experts of the National Criminal Investigation Department in Vorarlberg have started the investigation. It is also unclear how high the damage to Hotel Jägeralpe will be.
