Moments later, at the border crossing in Nickelsdorf, a Polish driver was caught carrying 13 refugees in his illegal luggage. Almost simultaneously, two suspected smugglers from North Macedonia were taken out of circulation by officials at Fertöszentmiklos. The duo wanted to transport eight Afghan migrants to Austria.

And the wave of arrests continued into the wee hours: within the officially scheduled 12 hours alone, domestic investigators were able to apprehend as many as 266 illegal immigrants before or after our borders.

In addition, there were a total of seven suspected smugglers, who could be handcuffed by the agents twice on red-white-red soil and five times on Hungarian territory. “Key operations with our Hungarian colleagues will continue consistently!
