Four cats were the cause of an argument that culminated in an attempted murder, according to the indictment from the Public Prosecution Service in Salzburg. An Austrian woman (57) will soon have to answer before a jury in Salzburg.
Arguments over cats led to violence
It all started when the woman’s ex-boyfriend gave her four cats. At 5 a.m. on June 13, two days after the four-legged friends were transferred, the two were already arguing loudly with each other. Reason: The 57-year-old suspected that two cats had distemper – an infectious disease that is contagious in mammals. An hour after the argument, the ex picked up the two cats.
500 euros in veterinary costs
But the woman demanded 500 euros in veterinary costs. Not only that, she contacted the man several times throughout the day and became “increasingly angrier” about it, as the complaint states. Until she made the decision hours later: the woman rode the bus from Grödig to Salzburg-Gneis with a pocket knife, went into the garden of a residential building and rammed the weapon with an eight-centimeter blade into the hands of her ex-boyfriend. chest.
Three acquaintances of the man observed the knife attack and, according to the Public Prosecution Service, also heard the woman shout ‘die’. And, “You’re next,” she allegedly said before police officers arrived and put on the handcuffs.
Life-threatening injury
The alcoholic has been in custody ever since. During interrogation, she allegedly downplayed the crime and denied any intent to commit murder. According to the forensic experts, it was a life-threatening injury – even though the victim, represented by Stefan Rieder of the White Ring, suffered no lasting consequences. It was not the first ex who attacked the suspect with a knife. Already in 2021, she was given two years’ probation for a similar crime.
