The parcel services have their hands full just before Christmas. To ensure that all sent packages end up safely under the Christmas tree, it is worth sending them on time. The post office has now announced the last possible date for this.
On December 20 it will be too late – at least for Christmas packages for your loved ones by post. As the Post Office reports, packages for domestic shipping must be mailed no later than December 19. If you go to neighboring countries, then a day earlier. If you are late, you still have the Post Express option: domestic delivery on December 21st. for nearby countries no later than December 19.
No delivery day at Christmas this year!
The Prio letter must arrive in the letterbox no later than the 20th (for neighboring countries: the 15th), and the Eco letter must be sent to the letterbox no later than the 18th (for neighboring countries: the 11th). Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, so the last day for delivery is Saturday, December 23.
For both post-express and parcel shipments to third countries, special attention must be paid to the processing time for customs clearance in the relevant country of destination.
Time buffer for transmission would make sense
Due to the high volume of shipments, Swiss Post generally recommends scheduling a time buffer for shipping and shipping early. The company expects approximately one million packages or more per day in December.
On Saturday, December 23, all post offices are open at least from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On December 8, almost all branches in shopping centers closed, with a few exceptions. Swiss Post recommends using its self-service stations, for example as a collection point or for sending returns.
