No doctor on site – vertebrae in nursing home: dead determined by video

Date:

A case of a nursing home in Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria) causes indignation: the death provision was pure digital – without EKG, without a doctor on the spot. Undertaker and Nursing staff increase the alarm: the worthy farewell falls along the road, the law is ignored.

“This is not a worthy farewell, it is a total failure of the health policy!” With sharp words, Jörg Bauer, founder of De Lichtblick Bestattung, speaks alarm in conversation with the “Kroon”. What happened in a nursing home in Wiener Neustadt about three weeks ago shocked family members, nurses and funeral directors: a death was “found online”, although no doctor was on the spot.

Death assessment via webcam? Welcome to the Digital Beyond!
In the specific case, the funeral was called for a collection on Saturday. Everything seemed regulated, the male body supposedly released. But then the shock on the site: no legally valid approval, no doctor, no EKG. Instead: a short video conversation with a so -ly -human “telenot doctor” – that diagnoses from far: death.

“This is absurd,” says a horrific graduate nurse, who witnessed how the legally prescribed checklist – including the EKG and the vital drawing control – was ignored without further hassle. “We don’t even have an EKG device in the house and the doctor picks up our armpits.” According to Bauer, in Lower Austria has a frightening gap in healthcare, especially during the weekend, no service, not doctors are not employed.

The result? Died are picked up prematurely, often in nursing homes without cooling options, and then temporarily stored in corpse halls – without a normal death. In the specific case of Wiener Neustadt, the deceased retired person was finally picked up on Monday.

Legal -Free space instead of a corpse show? – Emergency Call defends itself
“This is not only Vroom, that’s illegal,” Jörg Bauer criticizes. “Austria is a highly developed country. The fact that we cannot ensure a decent death assessment at the weekend is a certificate of poverty!”

The Undertaker now increases serious allegations against the authorities and demands an immediate reform of the so -called Corpse Show: “We again need real doctors on the site – not telegeniad without a heartbeat!” After all, the last way of a person deserves respect and no shoulder from the call center, which the experts naturally also calls of emergency calls Lower Austria.

After a request from the “Kroon” you show yourself shocked by the allegations: “It is not correct that there is no doctor’s contact. The doctor is called in after processing a checklist by diplomated nursing staff on site for documenting safe territory via video.

Incidentally, the Funeral Guild would have given the emergency services several times that all funeral companies would have had very good experiences with this system, and also from the palliative teams and the nursing homes there were only positive feedback …
