After an accident, two East Styrian pulled a seriously injured young man out of his wreck, who went up in flames shortly afterwards. Now the two lifesavers have been awarded.
In the evenings of a December day last year, a 25-year-old car driver came from the street in Pirching Am Traubenberg in the southeastern Styria on the Traubenberg and crashed into a tree in the forest. The young man was seriously injured and could not free himself from the wreck.
But the Southeast Styrian was very lucky in accident: two consecutive drivers noticed the accident and did not hesitate for a second. They dragged the wounded – fortunately not caught – out of the wreck and provided first aid until the notary arrived. The importance of your brave intervention must be shown shortly later: a few seconds after the rescue it was wreck in flames.
Car did not stop burning
“It was really a save at the last minute,” said Patrick Pichler, head of operations of the fire brigade, at that time the “Kroon”. And also emphasized: “The car must be completely fed, it didn’t stop for long, despite the use of foam extinguishing.” Unthinkable what would have happened if the two men did not respond immediately.
For their determined action, the Oststeirer David Niegelhell and Herbert Terler presented the Styrian Life Rescue medals on the white -green band during a ceremony at the old University of Graz by Governor Mario Kunaseek. This is how real heroes look like!
