The Eissalon del Monte in Rome is planning a creation in honor of the new Pope Leo XIV. “We are already working on a new ice that will be ready next week. It will be called Leonem,” said owner Massimiliano del Monte.
One is still in the creative phase. The new variety will contain, among other things, peanuts to remember an “American product” because the new Pope is from the US, said del Monte.
In the meantime, the company continues to offer the “Francis” ice cream creation, which is dedicated to the late Pope Francis. “It goes very well, we are often asked about it. It is a cream with five granules granulate and a touch of chocolate, it will certainly be part of our offer,” said del Monte.
Many are inspired
Eissalons are currently inspired by the Holy Year in Rome. This is the name of the European IJs variety of the year “Halleluja”, which also comes from Italy. The establishment of Vincenzo Squatrito from Sicily on Schwedenplatz is available in Vienna. “The ice tastes creamy, with a light chocolate nut, intensive nougat taste and piedmont hazelnuts,” says it.
Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday, loved ice. His favorite ice was “Dulce de Leche”, a caramelized cream made of milk and sugar from Argentina. Francis also gladly donated employees to ice.
There are more than 1200 ice cream parlor in Rome. Before compliance starts, various cardinals got ice in the summer temperatures.
