A fire broke out on Friday in the kitchen of a Leibnitz apartment (Styria). Fortunately, all residents can be saved outside – however, the material damage is enormous. The trigger could have been a defect on the fridge.
It was around 17.15 on Friday evening when the alarm went into the emergency services: an apartment in an apartment building in Leibnitz had set fire to. A fire brigade and police officer were on site shortly thereafter and all residents of the building were able to evacuate. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
The Leibnitz and Kainindorf fire brigades on the sulm started the extinguishing work. The roof of the house with several parties also had to be opened. After a good hour, “fire” could be reported. For safety, the Leibnitz City Fire Brigade provided a fire brigade that stayed on the site until the night and regularly checked the affected rooms with the thermal image camera.

It turned out that a technical defect on the tenant’s refrigerator may have activated the fire. The fire brigade was used with a total of nine vehicles and 50 emergency services. Moreover, there were two emergency vehicles, an emergency doctor, a district fire investor and various police patrols on the spot.
