A student from Turkey who studied with a valid visa in the US was arrested a few weeks ago for an article in a campus newspaper. Rumeysa Ozturk was accused of the support of the Hamas terrorists. After six weeks in prison, she was now released for deposit.
On Saturday, the doctoral student of Tufts University was allowed to return to her house in the US state of Massachusetts. “America is the greatest democracy in the world and I believe in the values we share. I rely on the American legal system,” she said at the airport. She will continue to pursue her business while she returned to her studies and research.
The arrest of the 30-year-old on March 25 caused a sensation: the student was surrounded by various police officers, such as a video shows. The young woman initially screamed with fear, but shortly thereafter they had turned on handcuffs.

Criticism of freedom of expression
