The test against the American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has started. The public prosecutor accused the music magnate on her opening entry of women and men. The focus of the indictment is his notorious drug festivals of sex.
“He used his companies to manipulate women and force women to sleep with male prostitutes while watching,” said Justice of Justice Emily Johnson on Monday in her opening claim for the federal court in New York.
The public prosecutor accuses combs of sexual abuse of women and men and forced to participate in drug and sex parties with threats and violence. His defenders, on the other hand, argued that all sexual contacts of their client had agreed and belonged to his lifestyle as a “swinger” with often changing sex partners.
Who’s on the jury?
Before the opening of the opening claim, the selection of the jury was completed on Monday. Eight men and four women were selected. President Arun Subramanian had previously postponed the jury because of the concern that candidates could get “cold feet” at the weekend.
Already in the past week the potential jury was checked for their ability to pursue an impartial statements by hip-hop musicians, sex workers and drug users.
The jury remains anonymous. You are not under supervision and you must therefore ensure that you stay away from the reporting on the sensational procedure in the media and comments in online services not to be influenced in your judgment.
Ex-girlfriend of rapper should testify
The most important witness in the process is probably Combs’ former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who had sued the musician in 2023 for years of abuse and rape. Shortly thereafter, both corresponded to a settlement -of the scheme, but since then many other women and men also complain against the rapper. Combs was arrested in September 2024 and has since been in custody.
The New York trial is expected to take about eight to ten weeks, in the case of a guilty verdict, the rapper threatens a lifelong prison.
