Interview with Raúl Arza, general secretary of UGT Euskadi, on Radio Euskadi, 6 December

Date:

The general secretary of the UGT Euskadi is not “surprised” about the situation that Donostialdea’s OSI is going through. “We have been demanding dialogue for some time to find a way out of this very complicated situation,” he said.

The crisis that erupted in Donostialdea’s OSI is the “result of a series of decisions made in recent years”. This has been communicated by the general secretary of the UGT Euskadi, Raul Arza, in an interview on Radio Euskadi. As he has said, “the situation is unsustainable” and Osakidetza “cannot impose political criteria on technical ones.”

The Minister of Health of the Basque government, Gotzone Sagardui, yesterday attributed the dismissals in the management of the OSI Donostialdea to “difficulties in sharing a coordinated vision”. According to Arza, “one must have critical opinions in order to improve the service.” In this sense, he accuses the Ministry of Health of “lack of empathy with the workers” and of acting “with unilateral decisions”.

When asked whether Sagardui should step down, UGT leader Euskadi has insisted that as a union representative it is not his place to talk about the resignation of the health minister, but has demanded to “restore dialogue” to resolve the “complicated situation”. ‘ that Osakidetza experiences. “Opportunities, workload… the council is deaf to a situation that requires dialogue,” he said.

In this sense, Arza recalled that the Basque Country has the worst time data “of the public services of the Spanish State as a whole”. Likewise, he has criticized the fact that Osakidetza is carrying out the consolidation processes unilaterally without relying on the unions.
